Access by role

Who can open the course

• Its owner and its collaborators.
• Everyone Moodle sends from the activity, with the role their Moodle course gives them.

Everyone else gets nothing: a course is invisible outside that list.

Who can edit

Owners and collaborators edit the course: its structure, its documents, its whiteboards. Moodle instructors, teaching assistants, and content developers join as collaborators.

Students read it — except in the sections where you switch editing on.

Hiding a section

Right-click a section in the sidebar and choose Hide to students. It disappears from their sidebar entirely, along with everything under it — hiding a section hides its children.

Use it for material you are still writing, or for a chapter you release week by week. Show to students puts it back.

Closing a whole course

Availability is decided by the activity in Moodle: hide or restrict it there. The Live checkbox is locked in DTeach, and so is the member list.
