Connect Moodle
Install DTeach in Moodle and add it as an activity in any course.
1. Create the connection
In DTeach, open Connections from your user menu, name the Moodle site you are about to
connect (for example Lycée Victor Hugo), and press Create. One Moodle connects per
account.
The connection then offers two ways to set DTeach up in Moodle: Automatic, where Moodle configures itself from a single URL, and Manual, where you fill the tool form in yourself. Both end in the same place.
2. Install the tool in Moodle
As a Moodle administrator, go to Site administration → Plugins → Activity modules → External tool → Manage tools.
Automatic
Copy the registration URL from the Automatic tab, paste it into the Tool URL box, then press Add LTI Advantage. Moodle contacts DTeach, registers itself, and shows a confirmation panel — press Done to close it. The URL is a credential: it works once, and only the person who created it can see it.
Manual
Press configure a tool manually instead, and copy each value the Manual tab lists into the matching Moodle box. Save the tool, open View configuration details on its card, and copy Moodle's six values back into the form on the Manual tab. Press Connect Moodle.
3. Adjust two settings
On the tool that now appears under Manage tools, open Edit and set:
- Tool configuration usage — Show in activity chooser and as a preconfigured tool, so teachers find DTeach when adding an activity.
- Default launch container — New window, because browsers routinely block cookies for tools embedded in an iframe.
Moodle hardcodes these two, so the automatic registration cannot set them for you.
Back in DTeach, the connection now reads Connected instead of Waiting for Moodle.
4. Add DTeach to a course
In any Moodle course, turn editing on, then Add an activity or resource → DTeach.
When Moodle asks you to select content, DTeach opens a dialog: Create a new course or Use an existing course. Pick one, press Continue, and save the activity.
If you add the preconfigured tool without going through content selection, DTeach still works: the first teacher who opens the activity gets a fresh course, named after the activity.
5. Check it as a student
Open the activity as a student. They land in the course, signed in, with read access. Nothing to accept, nothing to install.
If something goes wrong
- "Your browser is blocking cookies in this window" — the activity is opening inside an iframe. Use the Open DTeach in a new tab button, and set the launch container to New window.
- An error page instead of the course — the connection was revoked, or the Moodle site's plan expired. Check the Connections page in DTeach.
- Revoking a connection stops activities across the whole Moodle site from opening. The DTeach courses themselves stay untouched, the slot frees up for a new connection, and reconnecting the same Moodle brings its activities back.
